The goal of the EDM Council's Semantics Repository is to standardize the terms and definitions of all reference data attributes stored in the master files of financial institutions and passed among supply chain partners. Precise nomenclature translates into a common language between systems and sources, reduces the cost of doing business, and promotes confidence in data among business users. It is at the foundation of effective data management and an essential building block for business process automation.
Semantics Repository Updated
The repository has been updated as of July 2009 for traded securities reference
terms. These can be viewed in the main instrument sections on the right hand
menu of the Repository, along with the components section. For full details please
download the following report. Our thanks to all those who have participated to
make this phase of the work a success.
Work is ongoing for traded securities pricing, analytics and other date-dependent
terms. The working diagrams for these can be viewed under the "Dated Terms"
section on the right hand menu of the Repository. We encourage all those who have
subject matter expertise in this area to participate in our ongoing review sessions.

Review Process:
The review meetings are held weekly (on Wednesday) via web conference to work
our way through the terms/definitions within the repository, field questions and
make adjustments to our conceptual model. If you would like to be included in
