The EDM Council is a non-profit trade association created by the
financial industry to elevate the importance of enterprise-wide data management
as a business and operational priority.
The Council's agenda is focused on generating research on the business and
technical challenges of EDM program implementation; the documentation of
operational best practices; the creation of auditable methodologies for
benchmarking data management maturity; addressing the requirement for business
semantics and legal entity identification standards; and improving the
management of the data chain of supply from the point of data issuance through
its consumption.
The common goal of EDM Council members is to ensure that business users trust
and have confidence that the data they need for precision-intensive applications
is fit for purpose, accessible when needed, easy to integrate into downstream
systems and comparable across multiple sources without the requirement of
additional transformation or the need for manual reconciliation. All financial
institutions, regardless of geography, area of focus or industry segment, are
invited to apply for membership in the Council, participate in our activities
and contribute to the management of the agenda.

Financial information vendors, software and platform providers, system integrators, consultants, securities processing/asset servicing firms, and other related vendors who would like high visibility and involvement in the EDM Council agenda.

Advocacy: The EDM Council is an effective and respected global advocate for the advancement of data management. By working collectively, our members have successfully elevated the importance of data content management among senior financial industry executives, regulators and market authorities.
Research: The EDM Council conducts pragmatic research and provides neutral analysis on the art and practice of data management to enable members to compare and evaluate their programs against industry best practice.
Standards: The EDM Council is an active participant in the development and practical implementation of content standards. We manage and maintain the Semantics Repository on behalf of the industry, are advocates for the implementation of a standard legal entity identifier and maintain close liaison with global standards bodies.
Relationships: The EDM Council maintains an extensive network of contacts throughout the financial information industry and helps structure business introductions among participants. Members use the Council for business connections, peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and neutral facilitation.
Resources: The EDM Council website is a shared resource in support of member implementation and communication objectives. We maintain a repository of presentations, case studies, articles, research reports and business templates to promote collaboration and communication among subject matter experts.

| Membership in the EDM Council is corporate-wide. All full time employees of the company who are actively involved in data management initiatives are eligible to participate in the Council for no additional fee. Participants must be registered in the EDM Council database to gain access to restricted documents and resources. |
